ISM 915 MHz sub-GHz
Brazilian sub-GHz ISM band (902-928 MHz) — optimal trade-off between range, penetration, and data rate for medium-sized fire detection.
Advantages
- Better penetration than 2.4 GHz in walls and slabs
- Less congested (free of Wi-Fi/Bluetooth)
- Sufficient data rate for fire detection (~50 kbps)
- Medium power consumption (battery 3-5 years)
Brazilian Sweet Spot
The 902-928 MHz band is free in Brazil (Anatel Resolution 680/2017) and operates with authorized power up to 1 W. It is the sweet spot between LoRa range (low throughput) and ZigBee density (short range).
Firebee Application
Recommended for warehouses of 5-50 thousand m² and medium-sized buildings where LoRa “overperforms” and ZigBee “falls short”. Reduces total cost of ownership (TCO) of fire detection by up to 40% compared to equivalent cabled systems.
